It’s a pity that in Australia we do not have politicians like the
inspiring young Scottish MP,Mhairi Black.
Unlike our PM and his predecessor, she actually has a vision for
the future of her country.
In the following video she expresses her disappointment
in the present crop of politicians in Westminster, and especially the
way in which the Labour Party has moved so far to the right that it has lost
all of it’s support in Scotland.
In Australia we now have a situation where Turnbull will call a Double
Dissolution Election simply to get rid of the independent Senators in
the hope that he increases the support for his government in the Senate.
He has been in charge for 6 months now, said not a word about how he
can solve the problems facing country, tax, climate change, marriage equality,
housing, all too difficult for him.
Remember the last time the LNP had control of both houses, we got
WorkChoices. John Howard said not one word about it in the lead up to
the 2004 election. Imagine if Tony Abbott had had control of both houses,
the thought of all the lies and broken promises which would have been
passed by the Senate and foisted upon us are frightening in the extreme.
So look out penalty rates.
The only hope we had were the new Cross-Benchers, especially Jacqui Lambie,
Ricky Muir and Glenn Lazarus, they made the Senate what it is supposed to be,
a house of reveiw. After a shaky start they have grown into their positions over the last
2 years and have been a credit to themselves and the voters, they at least deserve
to serve their full term. But no, for his own political purposes Turnbull is trying
to kick them out. They have, to use Don Chipp’s words “kept the bastards honest”
and shown up the other Senators for what they are, just a lot of lap-dogs following
orders from their masters.
